Our committee may be small but our vision is huge! We’d love to have more parents and community members involved with our work, for as much or as little time as you can.
Currently in demand ..!
Our new website launched in January 2021 and we’d love to get word out – with a bunch of QR code posters around the school. Are you a graphic designer, or have design skills? We’ll put up posters around the school hotspots – the administration space, our tuckshop and uniform shops and at Jabiru. Contact our team via newsletter@nfsspandc.com.au for more info.
Good with grants?
We’re always applying for grants! We’ve received a $20,000 Federal government grant for our Beeston Street Garden project and recently applied for both a Junior Landcare grant and a Federal Government Volunteer grant. And, we’re about to start work on a Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefits Funds Grant to help with the ongoing purchase of tuckshop equipment. Phew! We’re tired just writing that! Are you a grants whiz? Perhaps you have experience with government or funding for other community organisations? A grants whiz is on our Christmas wish list – if you can help reach out via newsletter@nfsspandc.com.au
School gardens: – students and their big people are welcome
We welcome both student and community volunteer support in our Beeston Street garden, as this space is intended for use by the school and our wider community. Perhaps you know a green-thumbed neighbour, or would like to get your kids out of the apartment and into a green space? Contact Julie at gardening@nfsspandc.com.au to express an interest in working with us in this or our other school gardens!
Skills register – what’s your secret power?
We are currently working on a Skills register – a lovely big database to help store our parents and other community members knowledge and skill sets. We won’t be using this to sign you up for hours and hours of work, but will use this as a guide when we need, for example, a great speaker at our next event, a photographer to capture our volunteers in action, or a few hands to help setting up chairs at our next event. We’ll advertise in our newsletter when this is ready. Meantime, contact newsletter@nfsspandc.com now if you’d like to register a skill.
