Our school tuckshop proudly provides students, staff, and even our parents with delicious, nutritious homemade meals and snacks. We surveyed our parents recently for any ideas, feedback or thanks to pass on to our hardworking tuckshop team.
The winning idea from our respondents was to .. ask our kids! The P&C will approach the school executive to approve a survey to our students, and we’ll keep you updated if this is released.
One other idea is to feature one country/month, both as a fundraiser and as a way of exploring and honouring the many cultures and countries our children belong to. If you have any ideas – perhaps a family recipe you’d like to see featured, or a sample menu that would suit a school tuckshop, let us know – comment below or contact secretary@nfsspandc.com.au
What else did we find out? A mix of how often people use the tuckshop – most a couple of times/month or one day/week – a smaller percentage order every day our tuckshop is open. Most people like both the convenience of a tuckshop, and the fact they are supporting a school P&C service. About half let their children choose their own food, and are happy with the selection on offer. There are also those of us who use the tuckshop as a reward (who wouldn’t love homebake every day!).
Almost all of our respondents would like to see some changes – these range from smaller portions (particularly for our younger students), pizza to be sold every day, and a wider selection of our hot food specials. We’ll pass all of your ideas onto our manager Michelle, and will catch up with our tuckshop team for a chat in our next newsletter. Michelle is always available during tuckshop opening hours, or send her a message on hello@nfsspandc.com.au
